ENGL 1013 Writing Studies
ENGL 1013 Writing Studies I is an introductory college writing course that develops students’ ability to read critically, write effectively, analyze rhetoric, conduct academic research, and construct persuasive arguments. The course progresses from personal narrative writing to rhetorical analysis and finally to research-based academic argumentation.
Throughout the semester, students strengthen their writing through drafting, peer review, revision, MLA formatting, and the use of credible sources. Major themes include literacy, language, identity, advertising, technology, gender, and persuasion.
