2-2 Written Response: Audience Understanding

Overview

In the Module Two Reading Response, you examined the writer’s choices in the text you have chosen for the project. Now you will turn your attention to your own writing and the analysis that you will do. This assignment will prepare you to identify the audience for each version of the paper you will write for your project, describe the needs of the audience, and describe the needs of the writing situation for your project. Remember that your own audiences for the project might not be the same as the author’s audiences that you previously identified.

Focus here on who you will be writing for and think about how this information might impact them. Your project will analyze the article that you selected. Think about who might need this analysis. Then think about a completely separate audience that also might need this analysis. Additionally, keep in mind that the writing situation for your project will also reflect the audiences that you identify. This submission should build on your previous work with audience and writing situation to explore how you can apply these to your own project.

Refer to the Course Map located in the Start Here module to learn how your work on this assignment connects to the project.
