This week examines alternative approaches to leadership by comparing Indigenous leadership traditions with Western leadership models. Students explore how different cultures define leadership, organize communities, make decisions, and prioritize values. The objective is to recognize that leadership practices are shaped by cultural worldviews and to apply these concepts in analyzing a real or fictional leader or organization.

Deliverables

Indigenous & Western Leadership Analysis

  • Select a leader, group, or organization (fictional or real).
  • Analyze its leadership structure using concepts from the assigned reading.
  • Address the following questions:
    • How is the leader, group, or organization structured?
    • What values guide its leadership?
    • How are decisions made?
    • How do its leadership practices reflect Indigenous or alternative leadership perspectives?
  • Support your analysis with principles from the course reading.
  • Submit a discussion post of at least two full paragraphs.
